The Oregon Symphony is celebrating this week after a work co-commissioned by the Portland institution won a prestigious Pulitzer Prize.
The 2026 Pulitzer Prize for music went to Gabriela Lena Frank’s “Picaflor: A future myth,” an orchestral work that depicts an original story inspired by Andean Peruvian mythology, reimagined in a futuristic setting.
Frank’s work was commissioned by the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Oregon Symphony and the Bravo! Vail Music Festival.
