Portland public safety director says he was blindsided by surprise exit after only 11 months on the job

PORTLAND, Ore. — Earlier this month, to the surprise of many inside city hall, it was announced that Bob Cozzie, who oversees public safety in Portland, was leaving his job after just 11 months in the position.

Cozzie is the latest of several high-ranking city officials to have exited in the past year.
