PORTLAND, Ore. — The Interstate 84 off-ramp to Northeast Holladay Street will close for more than three weeks starting Friday night, remaining closed to all traffic 24/7 until 5 a.m., June 8. The ramp from I-84 to northbound Interstate 5 will remain open, and traffic looking to exit at the Rose Quarter will be redirected to the I-5 exit onto Northeast Weidler Street.
It’s the second lengthy closure of the ramp this year; the previous closure in late April and the upcoming one are both related to a project to install a new sign structure over I-5 near the Oregon Convention Center. Crews are currently working on the foundations for the future structure, according to a news release from the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The work is part of “Phase 1A” of the I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project, which is primarily geared around renovating the overpass that carries I-5 over several streets and rail tracks at the I-84 junction. The segment of Northeast Lloyd Boulevard that crosses beneath the overpass and the I-84 off-ramp is also closed and will remain shut down into June, ODOT said.
Drivers can also expect intermittent nighttime closures of the right lane on I-5 southbound between the Moda Center and Morrison Bridge on May 18-22, according to ODOT, as well as overnight closures of the I-5 southbound ramp to I-84 eastbound and the I-5 southbound ramp to the Morrison Bridge (Exit 300B) on May 18-20…
