The superintendent of schools has resigned due to the uncertainty of “what the future might hold for this position.”
David Raleigh broke the news to the community through an e-mail Monday. His last day will be June 17. He has accepted the superintendent’s post in North Smithfield.
“This was not an easy decision,” he wrote. “As many of you know, declining student enrollment has created some uncertainty regarding the long-term future of the district’s part-time superintendent structure. Because I was uncertain what the future might hold for this position, I felt it was important to keep my professional options open and explore other opportunities when they arose…
