After months of negotiations, collective bargaining between Richmond Public Schools and the city’s teachers union has reached an impasse.
Hannah Clayman, lead negotiator for the Richmond Education Association, told VPM News that out of 24 proposals, the two sides have only reached tentative agreements on five. The remaining items will be discussed in mediation meetings expected to start in mid-July.
“I’m generally hoping that with mediation, we can reach some movement from RPS, because what’s happening is that they’re just not moving, they’re staying their grounds, and they’re not moving, [on] both budgetary issues and non-budgetary issues,” Clayman said…
