RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — One hundred forty volunteers with the Woodswork Mission Program, who are partnered with the Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity, gathered in Highland Grove to “blitz build” the frames of four houses.
In just five days, students on summer break built house frames with adult supervision to help the Richmond Habitat for Humanity. Usually, this would have taken a professional crew up to four weeks.
“Our ability to utilize volunteers is typically limited,” said Dave Neary, CEO of Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity. “But when a group like Woodswork comes out, they bring their own supervision. They know how to build the houses. They’ve been doing this for 41 years. We can just step back and let them have at it.”…
