CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Two suspects charged with murder after the death of Jayden McComber, a missing Hopewell 18-year-old who was found dead in a Caroline County pond, will stay behind bars following a bond hearing.
Unlike their previous virtual arraignment hearings, 18-year-old Kennady Lambert and 19-year-old Jaden Phillips were set to see the judge in Caroline County General District Court in person on Wednesday, April 15 — but only Phillips was released from his holding cell.
Phillips was charged with second-degree murder after deputies found McComber’s body in a pond on Tuesday, March 31, after he had been reported missing the week before. Phillips’ attorney said during the hearing that he had no criminal history.
