Mom shares VSU student’s journey from special ed to valedictorian

Author TJ Johnson navigated a school system not always designed with her son in mind. As a toddler, Jordan Johnson was diagnosed with autism and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.

“A team of doctors at VCU Medical Center sat across from me and delivered the diagnosis for my son that would have stopped many parents in their tracks,” Johnson shared. “A developmental profile that, they told me, came with limitations.”
