Virginia Tech board approves tuition increase for all programs

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR)-Virginia Tech’s Board of Visitors has approved a 2.9 percent increase in tuition for the 2026-2027 academic year.

The tuition hike applies to both resident and non-resident undergraduate students.

  • In-state undergraduate tuition- $17,087 annually ($561 increase)
  • Out-of-state undergraduate tuition- $40,180 annually ($1,203 increase)

Room and board will increase by 6.7 percent to $15,032 annually ($950 increase).

According to VT, its tuition increases have been below the rate of inflation for ten consecutive years. Undergraduate students received $222 million in grants and scholarships in the previous fiscal year.
