State awards millions to area hospitals for psychiatric unit expansions and upgrades

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Local hospitals are getting state funding to expand and improve their inpatient psychiatric units.

University of Rochester Medical Center is getting more than $2 million, partly to increase capacity from 87 beds to 93. Rochester General Hospital is getting more than $540,000 to create an outdoor therapeutic space for patients.
