Mother who lost daughter to drunk driver raises awareness ahead of ‘100 Deadliest Days’

Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) — Memorial Day weekend leads into the “100 Deadliest Days,” the most dangerous time of the year for young drivers, according to AAA.

Sarah Palermo lost her daughter, Lindsay Kyle, nearly 23 years ago in a drunk driving crash in October of 2003 at the intersection of Exchange Boulevard and Ford Street.

“I leave Lindsay’s shoes around in the porch where she took him off that night,” Palermo said. “And there’s a message on the chalkboard in here that she wrote the night that they were going out, and so it starts to fade, and I start to really carefully, I trace over it, and so she’s still here with me.”
