ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Kishwaukee Cemetery once again became the site of a long-standing Memorial Day tradition Monday morning as veterans, families and community members gathered to reflect and remember.
The annual ceremony marked 156 years of Memorial Day gatherings at the Winnebago County cemetery, which is home to veterans from multiple American conflicts, including the Revolutionary War.
Many attending said the ceremony remains important not only because of the history connected to the cemetery, but because of the personal connections many families still carry generations later…
