City of Freeport to hold electronics recycling event

FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) – Freeport residents have a chance to get rid of certain old electronics during a recycling event Saturday.

City leaders say the event is a way to keep Freeport clear of illegal dumping.

Event details

The recycling event is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 6, at the Stephenson County Fairgrounds. The event is first come, first serve. Organizers say if trailers fill up before the closing of the gate, the event will wrap up early.

The event is only open to Freeport residents and attendees will be asked to show a Freeport ID before dropping off their items.

What is and isn’t accepted

Residents can bring up to three items with monitors including TV’s, laptops, computer screens and smartphones…
