ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Some area residents came together Saturday, working to restore one of Winnebago County’s oldest forest preserves.
Volunteer Site Steward Kevin Triner led community members in restoration efforts at Kilbuck Bluffs Forest Preserve. The work day focused on removing invasive honeysuckle from a project area.
“We’re trying to remove all those invasive species, so that we can have more of these native species,” Triner said. “We’ve made a pretty good dent.”
This volunteer day was the first of its kind at the Kilbuck Bluffs Forest Preserve, and Triner says more are planned for the future…
