We haven’t really experienced many ‘dog days of summer’ this month with afternoon highs falling just shy of the late August average and overnight lows falling well below. But the break we’ve had in some of the humidity may be coming to end as our pattern shifts a bit towards the weekend.
For the rest of Tuesday night skies will remain mostly clear to partly cloudy as temperatures are slow to fall. This is due to a light southerly breeze that’ll take us through the overnight. A cold front to our west and northwest has been the source for a few thunderstorms, some severe, across the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes.
Through the evening the storm activity will remain to our west. Clouds will begin to increase ahead of the front as it moves towards southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. This will help tug up a little more moisture allowing dew point temperatures to climb into the upper 60s. This will keep our overnight lows out of the 50s like they’ve been the last couple of nights.
A few showers and isolated thunderstorms remain possible through daybreak Wednesday as the cold front passes through. Severe weather is not expected, but some small hail may occur with any of the stronger storm cores…
