After debuting as a food truck, a local mac and cheese spot has major expansion plans.
Sassy Mac Boys is working on a second location at CherryVale Mall, 7200 Harrison Avenue in Rockford. This follows their brick-and-mortar debut last year in Machesney Park, and owner Donald Czyzyk is hoping to introduce his second restaurant on June 20. Along with the opening, he wants to expand with a franchise model, looking at locations throughout Illinois.
Czyzyk’s business started out as a food truck in 2023, serving up mac and cheese bowls, nachos and milkshakes. A couple of their staple bowls include the pulled pork mac with bbq sauce and crispy fried onions, and the Tex-Mex taco mac with taco seasoned ground beef with sour cream.
