Dignity Health’s Folsom Ranch medical project just shifted out of low gear, with more than $42 million in building permits filed this week and construction crews already busy on site. The filings signal a major ramp-up for the outpatient campus and back a roughly $123 million plan for an advanced ambulatory care center that Dignity Health aims to open in summer 2027. Workers are visible pouring slab-on-grade concrete, a clear sign this has moved well beyond ceremonial shovels in the dirt.
Permits Move Project Into Next Phase
According to Sacramento Business Journal, the new permit filings at the Folsom Ranch site total more than $42 million and mark the next phase of on-site work. The outlet reports that the outpatient center carries a budget of about $123 million and will bring outpatient surgery, advanced imaging and urgent care together under one roof. Its coverage also notes a photo caption showing crews pouring slab-on-grade concrete at the site, a visual cue that the project is shifting into more vertical construction.
Who’s Building It And When
In a press release, Dignity Health said the Advanced Ambulatory Care Center was designed by Perkins&Will, with NexCore Group serving as developer and XL Construction as general contractor. The system held a ceremonial groundbreaking in October 2025 and states the facility is expected to open in summer 2027 as the first phase of what could become a larger medical campus. “This groundbreaking marks a pivotal moment for Dignity Health, Folsom and the greater Sacramento region,” local leadership said in the announcement.
Contractors, Materials And Schedule
XL Construction’s project page lists the Folsom Ranch medical office building as under construction, with an approximately 80,765-square-foot scope and an $85 million contract value, reflecting the builder’s portion of the overall job. Clark Pacific reports that it supplied about 24,384 square feet of architectural precast for the façade, part of a prefabricated envelope the team says helps move the schedule along faster. Those contractor disclosures match the recent permit activity and indicate the work is transitioning from site preparation into structural and envelope phases…
