Storms expected Wednesday with heat headlines persisting

ST. LOUIS – While the focus is the dangerous heat, we are monitoring a complex of storms near Omaha early Wednesday morning, along a boundary that is attempting to sink south into the region.

This boundary has a hard time punching into St. Louis completely, but this complex of storms is expected to fade as it nears northern Missouri and west-central Illinois through Wednesday morning.

As this complex passes to the north of the viewing audience, it will send some clouds and an outflow boundary south through eastern MO and western IL, which will provide the lift needed to spark some isolated thunderstorms during the afternoon. This region will be the focal point for rain and some strong to severe storms Wednesday.

That probability is primarily for southern Illinois but extends into areas along the Mississippi River (including portions of Metro STL) where a slight risk (Level 2 out of 5) exists…
