ILLINOIS — Storms are moving out of Missouri and into southwest Illinois Thursday night, with the activity expected to continue moving east overnight. These storms could produce some gusty winds as they track through the region, with radar already showing significant lightning activity accompanying the system.
Radar Shows Storms Tracking Near St. Louis and Effingham
Doppler radar captured at 11:49 p.m. shows storm activity concentrated near St. Louis and extending east toward Springfield, Illinois, and Effingham. The radar display shows a mix of green and yellow returns with some embedded stronger cells as the system continues moving through the area.
Communities including Quincy and areas along Interstate 55 and Interstate 70 fall within the current path of this storm complex as it continues its eastward progression out of Missouri and into Illinois overnight.
