Venice City Council Approves New Salary Rates for Street Department Employees, Raises for Secretry and Comptroller

The Venice City Council met on August 24 with all present except Babette Mosby-Roshell. The only public comment was from Belinda McNeese who wanted to know the turnaround time on paving Brown Street and if the city can do something about the truck company across the street from her with its weeds surrounding the trucks to the point her dog was bit by a groundhog that was hiding in the trees and weeds.

Mayor Phillip White said Juneau & Associates is working on collecting bids to pave Brown Street, Fillmore, and Calhoun. He also said part of the property in question belongs to the city and it is on the list for clean up.

Health Inspector Shackelford reported citing two properties, one with high weeds and another with a trailer full of excrement…
