Eyewitness Sees “Star” Suddenly Zoom Across St. Louis Sky

When is a star not really a star? That’s the question from an eyewitness in St. Louis, Missouri who saw what they thought was a star before it zoomed across the night sky in less than a second.

According to the National UFO Reporting Center, this event happened on April 3, 2026

The eyewitness report from someone in the St. Louis, Missouri area says they saw what the thought was a star that was “brighter than Venus” suddenly accelerate and cross the sky above them.

“I was facing eastward towards the moon which was behind the clouds. I suddenly saw a bright star appear in the clouds it was like maybe 30° up from the horizon. I noticed it there for moment before it instantaneously sped off. I watched it cross (by my guess) over mile of cloudy sky in a little over a second.”
