‘Serious’ crash on I-70 causes miles-long traffic backup on Friday

ST. LOUIS — At least one person was injured after a “serious” crash on Interstate 70 Friday morning, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said.

The crash happened at around 10:20 a.m. on Friday in the eastbound lanes of I-70 near Salisbury Street, the Missouri Department of Transportation said. Authorities estimated the closure would last for at least an hour.

“This involved a one-car crash wherein the driver may have suffered a medical emergency before hitting a median,” police told 5 On Your Side in an emailed statement. “The driver, a male, was unresponsive when police arrived; however, I don’t have an update on his condition at the moment.”…
