Salem teen arrested after FBI says they were researching school shootings and how to build firearms

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 16-year-old was arrested in Salem Thursday after what police said was a “potential school-related threat involving firearms.”

The 16-year-old, who has not been identified but was a student at West Salem High School, had been researching school shootings, displaying concerning behaviors and accessing materials related to the manufacturing of firearms, according to the Salem Police Department.
