Salem leaders will vote May 11 on giving $1.2 million in grants to a downtown grocery store and West Salem mixed-use development.
The Urban Renewal Agency Board, which meets during the regular Salem City Council meeting and is comprised of the mayor and city councilors, will vote on a grant exemption to allocate $470,000 from the Riverfront Downtown Urban Renewal Agency capital improvement grant program for El Torito Supermarket slated to open at the former Rite Aid store at 435 Liberty St. NE in 2026.
