Heavy rain triggers flood alerts in New Braunfels as storms barrel across Texas

Heavy rain moving across Central Texas prompted multiple flood alerts for the New Braunfels area Monday morning, June 15, though forecasters warn the flooding threat is far from over.

The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for parts of the region early Monday before downgrading it to a Flood Advisory at 8:25 a.m. The advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. for portions of Comal, Guadalupe and Bexar County, including New Braunfels, Schertz, Canyon Lake, Seguin and Cibolo, according to the NWS.

Per the advisory, the radar indicates that ongoing thunderstorms are expected in the region and are capable of producing minor flooding. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain had already fallen by Monday morning, with up to an additional inch possible…
