SAN ANTONIO – Officers responding to a welfare check found a middle-aged Hispanic woman dead inside a home with multiple gunshot wounds, prompting a homicide investigation amid what police described as confusion about how the call originated.
Just before 1 p.m. on Monday, police were called to a home near the corner of Donaldson Avenue and Manor Drive, on the Northwest Side, to perform a welfare check.
Police officers at the scene said the homeowner’s mother, identified as the grandmother, was out of town but told her granddaughter that she had been advised, “somebody has been shot in this house.” The grandmother then sent the granddaughter to the home with a key to check on it…
