Southside Students Take Over Confluence Park For Earth Day Cleanup

San Antonio’s Southside students are trading selfies for service on Wednesday, as Texas A&M University–San Antonio’s Influencer Club rolls out its second annual Park Clean Up at Confluence Park for Earth Day.

The volunteer shift runs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., with organizers promising a low‑stress way to do some good between classes. Gloves, trash bags and light refreshments will be on hand, and this year’s sponsor, Dove Beauty, is sweetening the deal with mini Dove deodorants for participants. Anyone, from TAMU‑San Antonio students to nearby neighbors, can RSVP on JagSync or simply show up at the park.

Club president Nayahna Trevino told Mesquite News that the event is meant to be as social as it is service‑oriented. “It’s actually super fun to hang out and to do these park cleanups,” Trevino said, framing the afternoon as a chance to build shared memories while hauling trash instead of textbooks.

Why Confluence Park?

The cleanup targets Confluence Park, the riverside green space where the San Antonio River meets San Pedro Creek. The site doubles as an outdoor classroom for watershed education and community programming, with the San Antonio River Foundation highlighting its central role in local environmental stewardship. The park sits at 310 W. Mitchell Street, a short hop from TAMU‑San Antonio territory.

Club ties to campus

The Influencer Club is a recognized student organization at Texas A&M University–San Antonio, blending social‑media savvy with hands‑on community work, according to the university’s news page. That campus presence helps the group rally volunteers quickly and funnel students into Southside service projects like the Confluence Park cleanup.

How to join

Volunteers can RSVP through JagSync or just walk up on Wednesday afternoon; organizers say they will provide gloves, trash bags and light refreshments either way. For more details, Mesquite News lists contact email [email protected] and the club’s Instagram handle @theinfluencerclub.tamusa…
