After discontinuing its beloved ice cream back in 2022, Clover Sonoma is getting back into the sweet treat game. The 110-year-old Petaluma dairy, known for its milk and punny Clo the Cow mascot, announced in a news release that, as of April 8, its ice cream line has once again hit shelves at stores across California.
Back in 2022, then-CEO Ken Gott told the Petaluma Argus-Courier that part of the reason Clover Sonoma discontinued its ice cream was because it’s “a very crowded and competitive category dominated by large national brands” and that ice cream was outside of its “core manufacturing and distribution capabilities.” But four years later, the company has seemingly had a change of heart.
“With dairy seeing a real resurgence, the timing felt right to re-enter the frozen category with a product that reflects what consumers are increasingly looking for: simple ingredients and true craftsmanship,” said CEO John Coletta in a statement provided to SFGATE.
