Severe thunderstorm warnings expand to Sarasota County; dangerous heat continues

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – The National Weather Service has expanded Severe Thunderstorm Warnings to include southeastern Sarasota County, along with central Charlotte County and north central Lee County through 5:15 p.m. EDT Friday. A separate Heat Advisory remains in effect for the region through 7 p.m.

Multiple severe thunderstorms are moving northwest at 10 mph, bringing wind gusts up to 60 mph that could cause significant damage to homes and property.
