Savannah shop owner accused of spying, attorney argues insufficient evidence

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — A Broughton Street gift shop owner accused of watching a woman in her apartment through hidden spy cameras appeared in a Chatham County courtroom Wednesday.

According to court documents, in 2024, 38-year-old Thomas Hinely was indicted for allegedly entering a woman’s apartment located above Capital Bee Company, the shop he owns.

Hinely’s 2025 charges include burglary in the first degree, invasion of privacy, two counts of possession of tools for the commission of a crime and criminal attempt to commit a misdemeanor.
