Broadway composer who grew up on Hilton Head Island in critical condition

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Duncan Sheik, the Grammy and Tony award-winning musician, is in critical but stable condition, according to a post on the singer/composer’s official Instagram account.

Sheik, who was nominated for a Grammy for his hit 1990s song, ‘Barely Breathing,’ and who won a Grammy and Tony for writing the music for Broadway smash “Spring Awakening” in 2026, once attended Sea Pines Montessori School and Sea Pines Academy (now Hilton Head Prep) on Hilton Head Island.
