HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (WTOC) – With rapid residential growth bringing thousands of new drivers to Jasper County, transportation leaders are moving forward with a major $57 million project to widen Argent Boulevard — prompting mixed reactions from neighbors living along the corridor.
Dozens of community members packed the Palmetto Electric Cooperative Community Room in Hardeeville Thursday evening for a public information meeting hosted by Jasper County and the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT).
The proposed project would widen a 3.8-mile stretch of Argent Boulevard from two lanes to a divided four-lane roadway between U.S. Route 278 and S.C. Highway 170.
