With the Fourth of July right around the corner, we are all getting ready for backyard barbecues, hot weather, and plenty of celebration. But along with the fun comes a quick, necessary reminder about our four-legged family members.

The red, white, and blue festivities can turn into a total nightmare for our dogs when the fireworks start echoing across the Red River.

I used to be one of those pet parents who swore up and down that my dog could handle the loud bursts. I quickly found out the hard way that she could only handle them if they were miles down the road. To get through the night peacefully, we have to turn on every fan in the house, crank up the TV, and use an entire army of white noise machines just to mask the booms…
