LSU Health Shreveport welcomes 180 new residents and fellows

SHREVEPORT, La. — July 1 marks a milestone in medicine across the United States as newly graduated physicians begin residency training.

At LSU Health Shreveport, 180 new residents and fellows are taking the next step of their careers. Altogether, 614 residents and fellows train across 47 accredited programs, reinforcing LSU Health Shreveport’s role as the leading center for graduate medical education in North Louisiana.

Of these physicians:

  • 598 will train in Shreveport at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport Academic Medical Center and St. Mary Medical Center
  • 18 will train in Alexandria through the LSUHS Family Medicine Residency Program on campus at Rapides Regional Medical Center
  • 24 will train in Monroe through the LSUHS Family Medicine Residency Program on campus at Ochsner LSU Health Monroe Medical Center
