Caddo sheriff Introduces new crime data tool focused on domestic violence
SHREVEPORT, La. – The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office has added new data software aimed at reducing domestic violence and other crimes in specific high risk neighborhoods.The sheriff’s office unveiled the software called DICE (Data Informed Community Engagement) on Friday. DICE helps agencies target hotspots instead of just reacting to 911 calls. Instead of focusing only on offenders, it analyzes crime by location, pinpointing specific blocks or corners where problems keep happening.“We often think about crime problems as a function of who’s involved, but when we take our focus off of the people and put it on the place, we realize that certain locations host certain types of outcomes over and over again.
