WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Food & Friends is a community-based organization in the DMV that provides home-delivered, medically tailored meals, groceries and medical nutrition therapy to people living with cancer, HIV/AIDS and other illnesses.
The organization has more than 5,000 volunteers, and Katrina Mathis oversees those efforts as the director of volunteer services. She says the volunteers are committed to going out in neighborhoods and making a difference in the lives of people who are battling serious health issues.
“I believe that I have the best job in the building,” said Mathis. “Our volunteers know how critical their role is in helping people.”…
