SPOKANE, Wash. – Blooming dahlias from the Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center’s garden are greeting back staff, veterans and visitors after the center was forced to evacuate during the devastating Old Trails Fire.
Dahlias are planted each year in the garden outside the VA by the Inland Northwest Dahlia Society and various volunteers.
The garden was started by a former Mann-Grandstaff VA employee named Claudia Biggs 25 years ago. Biggs established the garden with her late husband, and she still helps take care of it today…
