Nearly 200 acres of land in Spokane that were once at the center of a controversial proposed land exchange could now remain in public ownership and be managed by the City of Spokane. The Washington State Board of Natural Resources approved the 199-acre Thorpe property as one of six projects DNR wants funded through the state’s Trust Land Transfer Program.
If state lawmakers approve the funding, the Thorpe property would be transferred from DNR to the City of Spokane for recreation and conservation.
