Airway Heights police, firefighters rescue baby trapped inside car with dead battery

AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. – Police officers and firefighters rushed to the aid of a local family after their car battery died, causing the vehicle’s doors to lock automatically while their infant child was inside, according to a report from the Airway Heights Police Department (AHPD) on Saturday.

“While some first responders focused on getting into the vehicle, others stayed with the family, offering reassurance during what felt like a very long few minutes,” the department stated.

Following quick and collaborative work between law enforcement and fire personnel, the car was unlocked without creating hazards and the baby was safely recovered…
