As surveillance technology continues to spread across police departments nationwide, Conroe officials are defending their use of automated license plate readers—pushing back against mounting resident concerns over privacy, data access and potential abuse.
At a Thursday City Council meeting, Conroe Police Chief Jon Buckholtz addressed what he called “misconceptions” about the department’s Flock Safety camera system, a network of automated license plate readers that scans and logs passing vehicles.
