The Houston Police Department and Houston Fire Department have also positioned high-water rescue vehicles and boats across the city in preparation for possible emergencies.
Harris County Meteorologist Lance Wood told Chron that conditions are expected to briefly ease before ramping back up in the esarly morning hours. “We are expecting scattered showers for the next few hours. A break in the heavy rainfall for the Houston area is expected for most of the night. By the early morning hours, 5 or 6 am, activity will pick up again, with showers and storms increasing in coverage during the morning and the heavy rainfall threat increasing as well.”
