A Springfield café’s John Goodman plea has become the cutest Route 66 subplot

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A cozy neighborhood cafe with a soft spot for veggies — and a very specific celebrity — is making a heartfelt plea as Route 66 festivities roll into town.

The Sleepy Opossum Cafe has taken to social media this week with a mission in mind: get John Goodman through the door. So far, no luck — but plenty of laughs.

Owner Danielle Hunnell said the idea started as a joke, the type that spirals just enough to become a community effort.

“There’s a lot of stars that have come out of Springfield recently and everyone is always so obsessed with,” Hunnell said. “It started as a joke about how he’s the only one I care about.”…
