A stormy month of April is behind us, with another spring severe weather month to go. For now, it’s quiet and a little on the cool side. Temperatures for the 4th day in a row were below normal, with afternoon highs in the 60s. It’s the longest cool snap in about a month.
The cool pattern will continue into Saturday, and it will come with bright sunshine. A few clouds will pop up in the afternoon, especially north and east of Springfield. The cloud cover will quickly fade Saturday evening as we head into another chilly night. Some areas of patchy frost are possible in cold-prone locations as readings dip into the 30s locally.
Temperatures will soar on Sunday as gusty southwest winds develop. Sunny skies will push temperatures into the mid to upper 70s.
