Ripon High will not use “Indians” as its mascot until it can gain more clarity on whether the school received a proper endorsement from the California Valley Miwok Tribe.
According to the Manteca Bulletin, during an Aug. 18 school board meeting, the Ripon Unified School Districtt announced it had received endorsement from the Miwok Tribe, which has been federally recognized since 1916.
