Video released by Thurston Co. sheriff after fatal shooting of pursuit suspect

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of Independent Investigations has released footage of the fatal shooting of a Lacey man who fled from pursuing deputies in Olympia on April 28.

According to previous reporting from The Olympian, 44-year-old Lacey resident Todd Bass was killed in a shooting just after 2:40 p.m. April 28 in the 3200 block of Hoffman Road Southeast, which is near Margaret McKenny Elementary School. Thurston County deputies fired their weapons following a high-speed pursuit that ended with both Bass and the pursuing deputy crashing their vehicles, investigators said.

The footage released by TCSO and OII on May 3 is about 23 minutes long and contains both dashcam and bodycam footage from deputies. The agencies warned that it contains footage and language that may be considered graphic…
