Rain to start Mother’s Day Weekend

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – This morning is quiet for the Big Bend and South Georgia, but rain is likely heading into the afternoon.

If you have outdoor plans this morning, most of us will remain dry. A few showers will develop. The best chance of rain is late this morning and into the afternoon. The initial round of storms may bring some gusty winds, frequent lightning and heavy downpours.

Rain will continue throughout the evening and overnight. It looks like steadier rain is possible after 8 p.m. through the early overnight hours. Totals will be between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain.

Mother’s Day is trending wet again. The latest model data keeps scattered showers and thunderstorms around throughout the day tomorrow. Unlike Saturday, it will not be an all-day, everyone-gets-wet type of day. As a matter of fact, there will be dry periods, just more random dry and wet periods throughout the day. Have the rain gear handy if you plan to be outside with mom at all tomorrow.

A few showers or storms may develop in the afternoon, but rain coverage will be about half the area.
