Tampa Venezuelan community collecting donations 1 month after devasting twin earthquakes

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Local Venezuelan Americans are continuing to ask the public for help with donations, food, non-perishables, and medical supplies to send to the South American nation following horrific twin earthquakes on June 24th. According to the United Nations, around 5,000 people were killed, and more than 16,000 are missing.

“Every minute you spend there without know what’s going to happen, without nothing, without food… under a bunch of bricks and huge structures. How are those people going to live now? It’s horrific,” said Nina Felice, a Venezuelan American.

Arepas Maita, a Venezuelan restaurant in Tampa Heights, has been collecting supplies to send abroad since the natural disaster rocked the country…
