Glendale 4-Year-Old Unlocks Phone, Saves Grandmother Twice From Aneurysm Collapse

A 4-year-old girl in Glendale, Arizona is being called a hero after she helped save her grandmother’s life during two separate medical emergencies at their home. The child, identified as Alice, woke her grandfather the first time her grandmother collapsed and hit her head, and later unlocked her grandmother’s phone to call for help when she could not wake her a second time.

According to WKRC, the first incident unfolded after Alice’s grandmother collapsed and hit her head at home. Alice responded by waking her grandfather, who then called 911. Doctors later discovered that Alice’s grandmother had three brain aneurysms, according to the same report.

During a second emergency, Alice’s grandmother lost consciousness after falling outside a bedroom. This time, Alice unlocked her grandmother’s phone herself, found her grandfather’s contact information, and called him to report that she could not wake her grandmother. Neighbors and first responders soon arrived at the family’s Glendale home, the station reports.

A Mother’s Lessons Paid Off

Alice’s mother had taught her how to contact 911 and trusted adults in an emergency, a lesson that the report notes proved critical when the young girl found herself alone with an unresponsive grandparent. A family member told the station it’s “pretty miraculous for a 4-year-old to really understand the situation and jump in and take control like that.”…
