‘It’s despicable’: Toledoans speak out at city meeting about controversial encounter between police, teens

TOLEDO, Ohio — Frustration boiled over Thursday night at Toledo City Council’s Public Safety Committee meeting, where neighbors demanded accountability following the release of body camera video two police officers’ controversial interaction with a group of teenagers.

Dozens of community members spoke out, some calling not only for the officers involved to be fired, but also for police Chief Mike Troendle to step down.

“I think it’s despicable for our officers on TPD to do what these two officers did,” one resident said…
