Holland Strawberry Festival vendors praise increased security measures

HOLLAND, Ohio (WTVG) – Vendors at the Holland Strawberry Festival are saying they felt safe this weekend thanks to increased security measures that included more sheriff’s deputies on site, mandatory bag searches and metal detectors at entry points.

“The families around here, they just want to have a good time, right? And I think this put on a show for them to have a good time and feel safe,” said Nathaniel Gonyer, owner of Chopp Boxx.

The Holland Strawberry Festival has been a summer event for nearly 90 years. Gonyer has been serving hibachi and Korean bourbon food at the festival for four of those years.
